About Us

The Little Learner's Treehouse is a new at home Daycare that just opened up October 3rd, 2011. Our purpose is to surround each child with opportunities for social and academic development in preparation for kindergarten. We offer a structured curriculum with guided activities including free play that encourage each child to confidently explore their environment.  While we are not yet registered, our goal is to be licensed by the end of 2012, and we run our daycare according to all rules and regulations set by the State of Alaska.

Dear Parents,

My name is Alicia Fields and my sister and I are the owners and sole teachers at Little Learner's Treehouse.  I am a 27 year old mother of two beautiful daughters, Caitlyn - 3 years old, and Lyssa - 1 year old.  I attended Texas A&M University, starting out with classes in Biomedical Science.  I quickly discovered my love for teaching, so I began taking classes in Education.  My first job at a daycare was a part-time job teaching 3 year olds while I attended school. I also worked as a substitute teacher in both Elementary and Middle Schools for Bryan ISD in Texas.  Part of my teaching major also required me to assist an Elementary school teacher in her classroom, as well as tutoring at risk children in Reading, English, and Mathematics.  In 2006, I was a full time teacher at a licensed daycare in San Antonio, Texas.  I worked throughout the day with all ages, but my primary classroom was the 3 year olds.  That is when I really discovered my passion for teaching preschool.  It was the most fulfilling job I'd ever had.  My favorite part of the day was watching the children have so much fun while learning.  Now, I truly believe that is what most providers are lacking.  I intend to lead each and everyday with the knowledge that children are constantly absorbing information from the world around them.  Children are "little learners" and they were created with so much energy for that very reason.  Most behavioral issues begin when that desire to learn and explore is stifled.  By creating an environment that is constantly changing, and constantly offering more opportunities for exploration, children become distracted by learning.  That is my motivation as a teacher.  I am so excited to finally have the opportunity to make this center a reality, and I would love to share this journey with you and your child!
